Engagement: Kayla and Bryce
My wife and I met up with Kayla and Bryce for an engagement a few weeks ago. We started at a small park in Linden, Michigan (which provided a surprising amount of shots) and then progressed to a local lake where there was some awesome fall color. Below you will find some of my favorites. Remember friends, you can keep track of my work by subscribing to my feed!

How appropriate! This sign was just lying around!
This one's HUUUGE!
I love this one...

The Engagement of Charity & Ricke
My wife and I met up with Charity and Ricke in Ypsilanti for an engagement shoot around two weeks ago. It was a wonderful fall day and I'm particularly happy with the shots I got of Ricke (who hates having his picture taken). Their wedding will be this December and I'm looking forward to experimenting with the snow.
Let me know what you think in the comments and be sure to take a look at their full gallery over in the client section of my site.
Uh oh... Geese!
When my eyes beheld the scene, they immediately flashed to the frame from Bambi. I'm quite proud of the resemblance. Thanks Ricke for being such a great s ...

Sarah & Dan: Awesome AND Married!
Two weeks ago Sarah and Dan had an outdoor wedding at the Kalamazoo Nature Center. It was a gamble and it turned out to be pretty chilly for the ceremony. At least the rain held off until after the receiving line finished! We scrambled around amid sprinkles and got a few group shots before heading over to the reception (In a BARN!). The food was awesome and the venue was amazing. I'm really pleased with how the dancing shots turned out.
But don't let me tell you what to think! Check out these highlight and leave me some comments at the end. If you want to follow my future work, you can subscribe to my RSS feed. Oh yeah, and if you want to ...

John & Kara: Married
John and Kara got married in Grand Rapids almost two weeks ago. I had a hilarious time with their wedding party mainly because of their wedding-reception transportation and the fact the Grand Rapids Art Prize was in it's opening weekend.
Let me know what you think of these shots in the comments. Also, subscribe to my RSS feed to keep up with future shoots.
I tried to include a lot of high contrast silhouette shots and this is one of my favorites.
I like sneaking shots of the bride and groom while waiting for the family to assemble for the formal shots.
One of my favorite signing shots I've taken.

Christina and Erik: Engaged!
This past weekend I made a day trip to Ann Arbor to meet up with Christina and Erik. We walked all over and I got to see a lot of the new buildings that had been finished since I was a student. The weather held off for the most part (sprinks at the end) and I feel like I got some really great shots of these two. But don't let ME be the judge. Tell me what you think in the comments! Check out their full web album here.
My wife and I are super pumped for their wedding next summer on Mackinac island.
This is the teacher look Christina gave the wet dog approaching on the path. It shook itself ou ...

Kyla’s senior shoot
I had the opportunity to do a shoot with Kyla this past week. Her mom came along to shout encouragement and playful jabs as I asked Kyla to try a variety of odd poses in precarious positions. I'm happy to say that there were only a few that didn't work. What's with girls and skirts anyway!?
Kyla's also a photographer so we had several moments where she knew exactly what I was thinking/trying to convey without me being able to get the words out correctly. There were also many times when that didn't work :-). She has photographed her friends many times so it was nice to give her a tase of her own medicine. Check out her work on smugmug and f ...

Amy and Jason begin a life together
Last weekend, my wife and I got to relax and laugh with Amy and Jason. These two were obviously stoked about marriage and both of their families were hugely supportive. One of my favorite parts of the wedding was the couples' personal and heart-felt vows they gave. I had some lighting challenges with the reception but I worked through things in the moment and I've quite pleased with the results (it pays to be prepared! I'll post about that later probably).
Some of my favorites are below. Subscribe to my blog's RSS feed. Let me know what you think in the comments!
The amazing reception venue (good luck bouncing a flash off THAT ce ...

Evan & Lindsay got hitched!
I considered it an honor for my wife and I to photograph the wedding of Lindsay and Evan two weekends ago. I grew to know these two individuals through the Michigan Marching Band and the church where we were all involved at the University of Michigan. It's awesome to have seen their relationship progress from those early days until now. As a photographer, I have unique and special access to a couple's most tender moments throughout their wedding day. I am so thankful that my history with this couple allowed me to capture a truer slice of emotional pie while at the same time making Evan and Lindsay feel comfortable and free to act naturally.

Ben and Steph Engagement!
These are my best friends and I love them. At this point in their lives, they live on the East coast of the U.S. attending their separate graduate schools (:-(). This time next year, however, they will be happily, lovingly married. Without Ben and Steph, I wouldn't be who I am today. Sure it's a pretty extreme statement but it's true. They introduced me to my wife! That's just one of the many reasons that made me so incredibly excited for the four of us (wifey makes 4) to hang out and take pictures of their love.
Enjoy and please let me know what you think. I can not wait for these two to get married! Check out the full gallery here.

Michiana Hematology Oncology Center photo update
A few weeks ago, I was notified that 9 images of mine had won positions on the walls of a new cancer care center. Click here to go back and see which ones won. I'll say right now that upon winning, I was only told the positions where the images would be displayed with my name and title and nothing more. On with the update:
Last week, my friend named Gabi (from my days with the Michigan Marching Band) was home visiting her parents who happen to live very close to this new cancer care center. She graciously spent some time walking around the hospital and found 6 of the 9 photos! (I think the 3 that Gabi wasn't unable to photograph are locate ...

New Business Cards!
My first foray into connecting my image across multiple fronts. I ordered (what I'm affectionately calling) "my beauties" from GotPrint.com and I totally recommend it for everyone. If you're wondering about the specifics, ok I'll tell you: recycled 100lb dull cover matte finish. Many thanks to those who I asked for criticism and those whose portraits I used. If I didn't ask you for scathing critique, now's NOT the time :-P. I'll solicit your input after I burn through these puppies! Check 'em out below and let me know what you think.
Thanks to the Wolfey wifey for holding them!

The Wedding of April and Jason!
My wife and I had an amazing time kicking it with April and Jason this past Saturday. This couple was a riot to photograph and their wedding party wasn't half introverted either! April and Jason had their ceremony in Kanley Chapel on the campus of Western Michigan University. and their reception at the beautiful Rose Street Market in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan (let me know if you can find a better link).
Once you're done viewing these photos feel free to head over to their album.
Be blessed in your future marriage April and Jason!
