The Eshbaugh Family!

Last week I had the privilege of doing a family photoshoot with Andrew and his extended family along with his fiancé. Andrew’s daughter made the shoot a good learning experience for me and my biggest take-away was to always bring my wife along :-) . Heidi helped to convince Kyilei (the daughter) how it’s cool not to frown or look away from the red bearded man (that’s me for all those I haven’t met).

Hoping to get some genuine emotion, I decided to train my lens on Kyilei as she wore herself out eluding me. At first the results were less personal (I found them hilarious)…

…but after sticking with it, I captured some great interaction between Andrew and his daughter.

Now insert Ashley…

… and at long last, everybody is in the mood to smile.

Portraits of Maddy F. a proud two-year-old

I took some photos for some friends of their two-year-old daughter Maddy and newborn son Samuel (Post of that shoot available here!) Working with kids is tough!

The top two tips I can give for shooting little kids are 1: get down to their level… or lower. And 2: Always be ready to fire off a few shots (to catch those subtle expressions). Other than that, it’s pretty much complete chance :-) .
