Carrie & Joel Wedding {Saline, MI}
Earlier this year, I had a prime view of my youngest sister? as she got married. The marriages in our family have spanned as many years as the years which separate Carrie's birth and mine. I speak for the rest of my siblings when I say that it's a great feeling to complete the family roster with a man like Joel. I'm so glad that these two found each other. I look forward to laughing with them both for years to come. What follow are but highlights of their wedding day. The emotions flowed freely, the two-course meal was a delightful mixture of ethnicities, and only one of my two sons was talking during the processional. Enjoy these memor ...

Carrie & Joel Engagement {Ypsilanti, MI}
It's the end of an era. My last remaining unmarried sister is getting married! The day before she graduated, my youngest sister Carrie and her fiancé Joel showed me around EMU's campus. They spent the shoot recounting some of the formative moments of their relationship and we visited some important locations. Joel has been going to school in Florida for the past few years, so it's rare that he and Carrie are physically together. It's even more rare when I'm around them as a couple, so I was very glad to be able to see them interact and, what is the word, "canoodle". They're getting married in a few months, and I'll be blubbering behind ...

Sioned & Alex Engagement {Chicago, IL}
This past Autumn, I met up with a pretty amazing couple out of Chicago. They had an idea to do a sunrise engagement shoot, which meant that we wouldn't have to deal with many people. We spent the morning laughing, talking about podcasts, and drinking caffeine. The pictures that follow were a pleasure to capture because conversation came so easily. Enjoy these highlights! I look forward to capturing more memories during their wedding in 2017.

Adam and Leah were married earlier this Autumn in Lawton, Michigan. When you're around a couple with those priorities, you know you're going to have plenty of heartfelt moments, and maybe even a packed dancefloor. Thankfully, both turned out to be true. Rachel & Bryan Wedding {Grand Rapids, MI}
We all know people who have a long engagement period prior to their wedding. There many good reasons for couples to take that approach, but the waiting just sucks. I had the privilege of being present when Bryan asked Rachel to marry him (engagement blogpost!) back in March of 2015. From that point it was 563 long days until their wedding. It should be abundantly clear to you that many of those 13,512 hours went toward planning some aspect of this wedding, because there were so. many. gorgeous. details. Enjoy these highlights from an amazing wedding of two adorable lovebirds. Their family and friends love them dearly and I am thrilled to h ...

Leigh & Don Wedding {East Leroy, MI}
Earlier this summer, I was welcomed into the childhood home of Leigh for breakfast... on her wedding day. What followed was a great revisiting of the tradition her family had in which her dad cooked the morning meal. That's a great example of how every aspect of Leigh and Don's wedding was thought through. They only included the common American wedding traditions that meant something to them. What made it such a delight, was that Leigh and Don had some pretty original ideas of their own to include. Here's looking at you, carnival food truck. The entire event took place at Res-Les Farms. After a pretty torrential morning downpour, the seats w ...

Stephanie & Leif Wedding {Lawton, MI}
When a couple like Stephanie and Leif come along, the photography is a lot less work. Not only are these two outwardly attractive, but after you spend some time with them, it's obvious that beauty is also a reflection of their character and values. With these ingredients, it becomes easy to document sincere interactions between the couple and their family and friends. Let's get it started with Stephanie and her bridesmaids at Steph's mom's house. On the way to venue, the ladies stopped at The Briar Patch nursery for some portraits. The ceremony and reception were both held at Vineyard 354 Family Farm.

Zach and Abby Wedding {Kalamazoo, MI}
Abby and Zach are the best sort of people. I got to know these two through their engagement shoot and in scheduling their compact wedding day. Humor, frankness, and a love of the natural sciences are aspects of their personalities which appealed to me. After all, these two honeymooned in glacier national park so you know you've got SOMETHING in common with them. Zach and Abby were wed at the Ladies Library Association of Kalamazoo earlier this summer.  Their wedding ceremony happened mid-morning followed by a delicious light brunch prepared by the members of the LLA. The venue has so much history (seriously, check out this link) that there ...

Heather & Jon Wedding {Rosebush, MI}
Jon and Heather had a fantastic wedding earlier this summer in the middle of the mitten. These two are active, artsy, and animal-loving. From the glimpses that I see of their lives, they're constantly creating which puts them squarely on my "i-want-to-be-your-friend" list. Although Heather and Jon now live in California, Heather was raised in Michigan so her family and friends provided the backbone for much of the day. The couple's day was a beautiful gesture of what it looks like for two families to come together surrounded by a supportive community. We'll start the story at Heather's mother's home where the bridesmaids got ready. Enjo ...

Jenine & Adam Wedding {Lansing, MI}
Jenine and Adam were married about a month ago in Lansing, MI. Their wedding was one of comfort, closeness, and delicious food. With an intimate guest list, the entire event happened at the Old Town Marquee. "Laid-back class" begins to describe the relaxed elegance that permeated the decoration and table settings. There were several delightful emotional moments throughout the day such as Adam seeing Jenine walk down the aisle or their first dance together. Enjoy this look through those highlights and more, below. Also, feel free to browse their engagement blogpost while you're at it. Be blessed in your marriage,  you two! ...

Robbie & Shelagh Wedding {Richland, MI}
Robbie and Shelagh were married last October in Richland, MI. These two have many special people in their lives and it was such a treat to see so many of these friends and family involved in the wedding day. I try to pay special attention to the supporting cast on wedding days, so I hope that the highlights below accurately reflect the loving support that Robbie and Shelagh received. A few venue details: the ceremony took place at the First Presbyterian Church in Richland, and the reception took place at the Gull Lake Country Club. Enjoy! ...

Rosie & Ari Wedding {Kalamazoo, MI}
This past autumn, I had the pleasure of spending an entire day laughing (despite what you see in the first three portraits below) with an amazing couple: Ari and Rosie. They were married in Kalamazoo at WMU's Kanley Chapel and their reception was held at Rose Street Market downtown. Rosie and Ari's ceremony was probably my favorite part of the day. It combined several cultural traditions, spiritual practices, and readings, all with terrific involvement by family and friends (the officiant was the bride's sister, for one). In all, it's clear that these two cherish their relationships. Be blessed, you two. Below are a few highlights from ...
